Growing in faith through life and love, fun and friendship
Searchers is our younger children's group at St Mary's for children aged 3-11.
It meets on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sunday of the month in the church hall from 11:00am. The children stay with us in Junior Church until re-joining the main service for Communion.
As a group, we have taken on sponsorship of Kato Junior, a 7 year old boy in Hoima, Uganda, as part of our Church partnership with that region.
We hope this will help the children understand more about their privileges and the concept of Christian giving.
The children's work at St Mary's is run by a number of church volunteers.
Each week Searchers is run by a team of 2 adults who are both committed Christians and DBS checked through the diocese. The teams work on a monthly rota.
During Searchers the children stay together in the same room. However, within the session the children have the opportunity to work as a whole group, in small groups or individually with an adult.
Searchers activities include a combination of:
On occasions we provide the children with a take home sheet summarising a few key points from the learning that week for you to chat through what they have learnt and help reinforce it.
